Louisiana
Iris
Here is a short list of some
of the Louisiana Iris we currently have for sale. They have been
chosen for their hardiness and colour. They grow very well in most
regions throughout Australia, from frosty southern regions to the
Queensland tropics. A native of the North America bayous or swamps,
they have adapted to an incredible range of soils and climates,
needing only sun and ample water.
Louisiana Iris prefer acidic
and well composted soils. Plant rhizomes about 5cm below the soil
surface in well worked soil. Alkaline soils can be improved by adding
sulphur. They can be grown in beds with annuals and other perennials,
but are happiest in boggy settings that recall their native swamps
and marshes. With their diversity of size, form, and spectacular
color, they are suitable for almost any garden setting.
